














The city of Cusco, is a mystical sacred city, considered the capital of the Tahuantinsuyo Empire and with a great historical and architectural legacy. It is in the Andes mountain range at 3400 AMSL and surrounded by green valleys with countless tourist attractions.
Cusco is known as the navel of the world because it is the political and territorial center of the Inca Empire, was declared Historical Capital of Peru, being an impressive sample of high Inca engineering that had as its main tool the stone. As well as places like Choquequirao, Sacsayhuaman, Qenko, Tambomachay, Ollantaytambo and especially Machu Picchu, architectural jewel built with the wisdom of the ancient Incas that served as political, religious and administrative center of the time.
Machu Picchu, the Inca citadel in the middle of the rainforest, about 2400 AMSL, was declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1981 and a new wonder of the modern world in 2007, is a fantastic architectural complex built in times of the Inca Pachacutec amidst a variety of wild flora and fauna.
The department of Cusco also has several tourist attractions like the Sacred Valley of Urubamba, considered the center of production of the best corn grain; The Barrio de San Blas, called the Barrio of The Artisans, to house renowned popular artists of the city; Maras, place that owns mines of salt that were used since Incan times; Paucartambo, a town that still maintains its ancient Andean culture and many others.
